Location was amazing, just a few blocks from the iconic Nishiki Market. Tons of amazing restaurants nearby and a short walk to a few different stations. Everything was clean and comfortable. Check in was easy and they will gladly take your bags early and put them in your room for you. Hosts speak good English! They had a beer/highball vending machine on the floor with the public bath and had umbrellas to borrow for the sometimes unpredictable Kyoto weather. The public bath was wonderful - clean, well stocked, and soooooo relaxing. Each room has traditional robes for use and lots of slippers to get around the hotel without having to put shoes back on. 11pm curfew to be back at the hotel, but you'll be tired enough after walking so much each day to see as much of Kyoto as possible. They will also keep your bags after check out so you can explore the city a little more before catching your train. The traditional breakfast was amazing and all of the staff were so kind and helpful.

This location was walking distance to Nishiki Market, Pontocho and Gion District. It was close to several metro lines that take you to several different shrines, temples and even to the Arashiyama Bamboo Forest. The room was spacious and clean. The hosts, who were a lovely couple, were very friendly and willing to help with any request that you may have. She even offered to do my laundry for me while I was out sightseeing for only 1000 yen. This was my first time sleeping in a traditional Ryokan, so it was definitely a little different sleeping on the futon on the Tatami mat floor versus sleeping in an actual bed. Honestly, It was surprisingly more comfortable that I thought. The public bath and onsen were very clean and I ended up using it every day that I stayed.

We had a very pleasant stay at this traditional, family-run ryokan in the center of Kyoto. The location was perfect for exploring the city, and the warm hospitality from the staff made us feel truly welcome. The room was spacious, beautifully kept, and the futon bedding was very comfortable — we slept wonderfully. We had the chance to try the traditional Japanese breakfast one morning, served in a private room, and it was a lovely and authentic experience. The public bath was also a nice feature and added to the relaxing atmosphere. Overall, a peaceful and charming stay with a very personal touch — highly recommended for anyone looking to experience traditional Kyoto hospitality.

The staff were exceptionally friendly and accommodating. The service was very personal - from helping us with our luggage to walking us out to our Uber as we were leaving. My son even received a special child-sized yukata to wear in the inn. The location is a block away from the famous Nishiko Market and walking distance to Gion. The inn is very quaint. The Akebono room was large with a balcony and private bathroom with soaking tub. The futons were comfortable. We had hot tea waiting for us when we arrived and upon coming back from our day’s activities. We loved it. Highly recommended.

Excellent location just a few steps away from Nishiki market (food haven) and 5 minutes away from Teramachi shopping street. The neighborhood is a mid-upper income residential area with convenience stores and ATMs within a few minutes reach. The couple managing the Ryokan are very polite, understanding and accommodating. If you are reading this: we loved your warm welcome. Please also extend our gratitude to the old lady who explained us and helped us to our rooms. The rooms were good, spacious and the futon mattresses were really comfortable. Excellent cooling too.
